Marine fish are renowned for vivid colouration, this spectrum of colours make them the most beautiful type of fish the hobbyist can keep. Calanus® contains all the components that marine species require in their daily diet.
High levels of essential omega 3 fatty acids EPA, DHA (polyunsaturated) and SDA which is of plant origin and found in cyanobacterium such as Spirulina. Other essential key chain oils are present in Calanus® providing marine fish with everything they require for exellent growth, health and reproduction.
Calanus® also contains essential edible wax esters required by marine fish at times of breeding, wax esters are also known to stabilise buoyancy and reduce stress.
The key ingredient Calanus® contains for providing colouration is Astaxanthin a natural colorant, this makes up between 60-80% of the total carotenoids found in Calanus®. This combined with the remaining percentage of other colour producing carotenoids provides captive marine species with the same properties as they would find whilst feeding in the Ocean. Calanus® is suitable for feeding to all marine life including less common species such as anemones (Uptake System), seahorses and jellyfish.
